Brief ridging will be over the area early Thursday before a fast-moving storm in northwest flow begins snow by Thursday afternoon. Accumulations will be largest on the hill before snowfall tapers off first in the valleys and then on the hill during Friday.
Wednesday night: Very cold with lows around minus teens for Craig and minus single digits for Steamboat. Chance of snow on the mountain with little accumulations.
Thursday: Chance of snow returning for the afternoon and continued cold, with highs in the teens in Craig and on the mountain and near 20 in Steamboat.
Thursday night: Chance of snow in the valleys and snow likely on the hill with 3-6” to be reported on the Friday morning ski report. Lows around zero in Craig and single digits in Steamboat.

The departing storm will leave cold and moderately unstable northwesterly flow over our area through Wednesday. Brief ridging is then forecast for Wednesday night ahead of a weak wave in northwesterly flow for Thursday that will increase the chance of snow for later Thursday.
Tuesday night: Colder behind the departing storm with chance of snow in the valleys and 1-4” on the mountain. Lows around minus 10 in Craig and minus single digits in Steamboat.
Wednesday: Cloudy skies becoming party sunny as the day progresses, first over the valleys as light snow showers will linger longest on the mountain. Cold with highs around 10 in the valleys and single digits on the mountain.
Wednesday night: Very cold in the valleys as temperature inversions form, with lows in the minus teens in Craig and minus single digits in Steamboat.

As this impressive storm moves east of our area tonight, northerly flow behind the storm will keep snows going in very cold temperatures as additional reinforcing surges of cold air move across the area through Wednesday.
Monday night: Continued snow. Accumulations 1-3” in Craig, 2-4” in Steamboat and 4-8” on the mountain, yielding a 6-12” ski report for Tuesday morning. Lows around 10 in Craig and single digits in Steamboat.
Tuesday: Light snow with minimal accumulations in the valley, and 1-4” on the mountain. Highs in the teens in the valleys and near 10 mid-mountain with some northerly winds.
Tuesday night: Much colder with a chance of snow, especially on the mountain. Lows around minus 10 in Craig and minus single digits for Steamboat.

A large and potentially dangerous Pacific storm is currently crossing the West Coast and has begun to affect our weather with snow showers at the higher elevations. As this storm moves eastward across the Great Basin over the next two days, winds will first turn southwest tonight, forcing moist Pacific air over the cold air in our area and producing snow.
Winds will then turn easterly during Monday, which normally is not conducive to precipitation as downsloping off the Park Range warms and dries the air. However, strong storms can wrap moisture back into the northwest quadrant, sometimes producing heavy snows over our area as the storm moves along the Colorado - New Mexico border. There is uncertainty as to whether this will actually happen, but current models forecast it developing to at least some degree and lasting through Monday night.
Sunday night: Snow likely after midnight with 1-3” in Craig, 2-4” in Steamboat and 3-6” on the mountain. Lows around 10.
Monday: More snow with 2-4” likely in the valleys and 4-8” on the mountain. Highs around 20. Travel will likely be difficult in the I70 corridor and the Front Range as heavy snow is expected for those areas.
Monday night: Continued snow with 1-3” likely in the valleys and 3-6” on the mountain with lows around 10.
Tuesday: Mostly cloudy in the valleys with snow likely on the hill. Highs in the teens in the valleys and near 10 at mid-mountain.
Tuesday night: Chance of snow on the mountain, with lows around zero in Craig and minus single digits in Steamboat.

The first storm will exit our area Sunday morning after good snow tonight, but the break in the weather should be brief as models currently have snow turning on again later Sunday night as the second storm moves along the Colorado - New Mexico border during the day Monday. Our snowfall will be very dependent upon the actual track of the storm and current models disagree about the northward extent of the snows.
Saturday night: West winds with snow and possible blowing snow with accumulations around an inch in Craig, 2-4” in Steamboat and 4-8” on the mountain, yielding a Sunday morning ski report of 6-12”. Colder with lows in the single digits in Craig and near 10 in Steamboat.
Sunday: Snowfall will end early Sunday, first for the valleys and then for the mountain. Highs in the 20’s in Craig and around 20 in Steamboat.
Sunday night: Snow likely late as we begin to feel the affects of the next storm to our southwest. The amount of snow will be dependent upon the eventual track of the storm, but current models have 1-3” in Steamboat and 4-8” on the mountain. Lows in the single digits.
Monday: Winds turning easterly and continuing snow with 2-4” in the valleys and 4-8” on the mountain. Highs around 20 in the valleys and teens on the mountain.
Monday night: Colder with additional snowfall of 1-3” in the valleys and 4-8” on the mountain, leading to a possible Tuesday morning ski report of 8-16”. Lows around zero in Craig and single digits in Steamboat.
